Around here: 3/14/13

There's so much happening around here, and yet not much of anything. Every day is so full, and when I lay down at night, I think, "Where did my day go?!" You know how they say, "The days are long, but the years are short"? Well, I feel like each day goes faster and faster.

Anyway, here are some snapshots that really illustrate life with Abezilla: fast moving, blurry, and one where I caught him watching the cars outside, which means he was sitting still long enough that it's not blurry. Oh, and a few with some waterfalls of drool. Those teeth just won't quit! ;-)

He loves the camera (or phone, let's be serious...). Those last few, he was walking toward me saying, "Fuh (phone)? See?" He likes to see the pictures. Just wait until I tell him that when I was growing up, we had to wait to get the prints back from the developer to see the photos. Prepare to have your mind blown, kid!

Mail day!

I love shipping off a box full of invitations. It makes me happy to think of my bride receiving them at the other end, feeling like she's one step closer to her day. I remember feeling like it was really-for-real-going-to-happen the day I dropped the invitations to our wedding at the post office.

Sigh... So pretty...

Sometimes...

Sometimes I want to write on here, but I just don't know what to write.

I used to think I was a writer. I used to want to be a writer. Granted, I thought I would write children's stories. Which don't have many words. And then I thought I would be a journalist. Who also are limited by word count.

I find myself thinking in blog posts. Like, "What would I say if I were that one blogger whom I really admire?" and then I go on to write, er think, some really wonderful, eloquent, yet to-the-point, blog post about my faith or creative process or life or something really important.

This usually happens in the shower. Or driving. Neither of which are conducive to writing or typing. So then I sit down to the computer and promptly forget every single word.

The pressure, I tell ya!! ;-)

Anyways. I just wanted to post something tonight. So here's something.

Maybe this kid will take up where his mother left off in the journalism department. Gotta get him reading right-side-up first though, eh?

Oooff...

Well, it's been quite the weekend.

Abe woke up on Thursday with a fever. He still had it on Saturday, and wasn't quite himself. So off to the doctor we went. Turns out he had an ear infection. We got him some medicine, and spent the next few days trying to be very patient with a very cranky lil boy.

Yesterday he woke up and seemed very much himself again. Hallelujah. We got showered and fed and went to church for Bible study. We had just started the very first video of Beth Moore's Daniel study, and there was a knock at the door, with our baby sitter holding Abe with a bloody little lip. He had tripped and fallen into a table and split the dang thing open. Thank goodness for the other moms in the room, and especially the one who is a nurse! My instinct was to take him for stitches, but then I second guessed myself, because I don't want to be the hysterical-over-reacting mom. But they all said, No, he needs stitches.

And then we spent 7 hours in the ER at Children's waiting to get 4 little bitty stitches. I spent most of that time thankful that we have access to one of the top 5 children's hospitals in the country. And thankful that Abe is healthy enough to run and fall. And that it was only a split lip. We did have to sedate him for the stitches, because seriously? What 14 month old boy is going to sit still for stitches? I mean, mine doesn't even sit still for 12 minutes worth of Curious George. The sedation was a little hard for my mama-heart, but again, I kept reminding myself to be thankful that it wasn't worse than it was, and that our doctors and nurses knew what they were doing. Amen? Amen. It didn't hurt that he talked his way through the surgery. My little chatter box.

Abe-zilla woke up this morning ready & rearing to go. There's not much that keeps that little guy from being his active little self.

Here are a few shots from our "adventure" yesterday. Nothing too gory. Enjoy! :-)

Now, to keep my 14-month old, who is teething and drooling up a messy storm, from pulling on his stitches...

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, O night when Christ was born"
